We have recently received a letter from Julie Foster, of Children United, who has been visiting the school in Kodai Kanal, India, whom we have raised money for. She wrote, “You raised so much money that as well as books for the school, you provided a large concreted area with a roof and a sink. So now instead of eating lunch in the roadway, they have a shelter with a roof for lunchtimes, as well as assemblies and functions when it is wet. The teachers and children are VERY happy.” So well done, and a big thank you! |

Comenius Project In early January, Mr. Camp went to Turkey to set up a project linking 9 schools across Europe. The trip was successful and an application has been submitted to the British Council to fund this project. The countries to be linked are Spain, Turkey, Sweden, Poland, UK, Germany, Slovakia and Bulgaria. The project hopefully will start in September 2009 and will involve pupils and staff. Musical Instruments The stands are being made for our outdoor musical instruments, kindly donated by the PTA. We should see them erected very shortly near the willow tunnel. Please look out for them and try them once they are installed! Books for Schools We are collecting ‘The Times/Sunday Times’ tokens and can exchange them for books for the library. The more tokens we collect, the more books we can get. Please ask friends and family to collect the tokens for our school. There is a box near the office. School Dinners Thank you very much to Mrs. Pullen for all the hard work and persuasion in setting up the scheme. The meals seem to be very popular and the logistics have been sorted out. If you would like your child to have hot school dinners please contact Mrs. Rae. University It's nearly time to start thinking about the courses for the next half term. If there is anyone who could offer to run a course for 5-6 weeks on a Friday afternoon, please contact Mr. Camp as soon as possible. We think it is important for the pupils to have outside input into this project and not just have the staff running courses. Congratulations! Congratulations to all the certificate winners. It is great to give out so many and to see those pupils achieving so much at the school. Special congratulations go to Dilon Hamlyn -first house point, GOLD!, Pacey Andrews - GOLD reading certificate, Alex Lett-special work certificate, Kirsten Saunders - Hotshots player of the term and Lily Roberts-Nuttall - riding rosettes. Parking/Grass The weather has been very wet recently and the grass has become very muddy as a result. We have had difficulty keeping the school clean and free of mud. The grass at the front in particular is becoming really churned up with cars parking there. Parents should not use the grass to park cars as there may be a possibility it won't recover enough in time for Sports Day. Thank you, Mr Camp. |

Holidays should be arranged when the school is not in session to enable your child to cover the required work within the classroom situation and take part in National tests, tasks and moderation exercises. |
