On Thursday there was another knock on the door and my excitement began. I liked it at lunch and said “There I am !” and pointed to another Anna ! ,the teacher from Spain. The other two names were Sonja and Joan. I liked the pancake race best. I saw he Mayor and his wife and on Friday we got into our house teams for the races. Green came second and then blue then yellow. Red house won. Anna B-J Great Creaton hosted the second Comenius meeting, which took place from Wednesday 26th January until Saturday 30th January 2010,when the group moved to Blakeley Heath School Wolverhampton. All eight countries were able to attend and it was great to meet up with everyone again. Thursday was the first working day when everyone came to the school and spent the morning with the children and staff. Each class had been given two countries to study and the children were excited to show the visitors the amount of knowledge they had already learned about their homelands. They then ‘toured’ the village and enjoyed the experience, it was totally different to be in such a small community after the vastness of Hannover. On Friday morning a Civic Assembly was arranged and our guests included the Mayor of Daventry, The Mayor and Mayoress of Northampton and many other dignitaries. The children presented flags and bouquets to each country and then performed songs and recitations which was received with a great deal of praise from our guests over coffee and biscuits afterwards. The visitors finished Friday evening with a Barn Dance and a demonstration of Morris Dancing with a fish and chip supper, which proved to be a great success. During the visits all members of the School Community helped to entertain our visitors. Parents, Governors , Staff and the PTA, it was great to see how everyone became involved and our delegates commented that we were like a ‘large family’. On Saturday everyone went to Warwick Castle, then on to Blakeley Heath. Sunday morning a planned visit to Cadbury World was organised followed by a visit to the Bullring Birmingham.
