Dear Parents
Welcome back. I hope that everyone had a really good break
and managed to avoid all the wet weather.
A new term, but especially a new year, is an exciting time as it gives
us opportunities to start new lessons, subjects and projects.
Over the summer
holidays I was very pleased to receive two letters from the British Council,
the first saying that we had been awarded the nationally accredited
International Schools Award, there are very few schools in Northamptonshire
with this award and it is something to be really proud of. The second said that we had been accepted
onto a Comenius project that involves the linking of 8 schools across Europe.
Staff from these schools will visit each other over the next two years to share
ideas and participate in producing a book of Festivals and Traditions in the
various countries. The countries that
we have managed to be partnered with are Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Poland,
Bulgaria, Slovakia and Germany.
Over the summer
holidays there have again been some changes to the school, the fort has been
redesigned and strengthened and I am sure you will agree, looks really
good. Hopefully it will get a lot more
use at lunchtimes to shelter pupils from the sun!
The doors inside
the school have been painted blue and the staff room has been repainted, this
is to fit in with our new uniform.
If anyone has any
suggestions on how we may continue to improve the facilities, both inside and
the school grounds please contact me.
Once again we are
fortunate to have a full school role and have now started a waiting list for
pupils entering the school in 2010. For
a small village school this situation is really encouraging especially as a lot
of schools are undersubscribed. This is
due in a large part to the excellent work done by all the staff in providing a
wide and exciting curriculum for the pupils.
Our “University”
will be starting again next Friday 18th September and running for 6
weeks. If anyone is able to give up
time to help run a course on any subject they would be most welcome – the more
variety of courses we can offer the better experiences the children will
receive. If you can help please contact
the school. Thank you to all those
parents and other helpers who have run courses over the last year, the
“University” has been a really successful project to extend our curriculum.
Please could you
complete the attached Pupil Data Collection Sheet and Permission slip for
2009/2010 for each child in your family.
The Pupil Data Collection Sheets need to be updated periodically as your
details change.
I look forward to
meeting you all throughout the year and hope that 2009 – 2010 can again be a
very successful year for Great Creaton Primary School.
Yours sincerely
Richard Camp
